Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the gym is unavailable?

If the gym is unavailable, Fastbreak Futures seamlessly transitions to outdoor activities, weather permitting. Students participate in other organized sports such as flag football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and team-building games. Our focus on leadership, teamwork, and physical fitness continues across all activities, ensuring students remain active and engaged even without gym access.

What happens if it rains or there's bad weather?

In the event of rain or severe weather, all outdoor activities are moved indoors to available classrooms, cafeterias, or multipurpose rooms. Students participate in academic enrichment sessions, leadership workshops, and team-building activities that promote resilience, communication, and problem-solving. If the school or site closes due to weather, Fastbreak Futures follows the district's closure policies and communication systems.

Who supervises the students during the program?

Students are supervised by trained Fastbreak Futures staff, including leadership and trained coaches. All staff undergo background checks, safety training, and leadership development to ensure a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

How is academic time structured during the program?

Each day includes a dedicated academic block where students work on homework, receive tutoring support, and build critical study skills. Our academic sessions are structured, quiet, and staff-supported to maximize focus and learning.

How do you ensure students stay on task during academic time?

We maintain small group sizes, set clear expectations for behavior, and use positive reinforcement to keep students motivated and focused. Staff monitor progress closely, offering one-on-one assistance when needed, and maintaining a culture of respect, responsibility, and academic excellence.

Can Fastbreak Futures customize the program to fit our school's needs?

Absolutely! Fastbreak Futures is designed to be flexible. We work with each school or district to tailor the balance of academic support, leadership development, and sports activities — whether that's more basketball, football, soccer, or leadership workshops — to meet your site’s specific goals, facilities, and student interests.

How is Fastbreak Futures different from other after-school programs?

Fastbreak Futures uniquely blends academics, emotional intelligence, and multi-sport athletic training to support the whole child. We don't just offer recreation — we build scholars, leaders, and athletes through a structured program that prioritizes academic achievement, leadership growth, and physical development.

What safety measures are in place?

Student safety is our top priority. All staff are background checked, trained in emergency procedures and first aid, and follow strict supervision policies. We enforce secure check-in/check-out procedures, maintain low staff-to-student ratios, and align fully with district and site safety standards.
